Welcome To 1st Cold Ash Scout Group |
Registered Charity Numbers 306101 (England and Wales) |
Cold Ash Scout group is a thriving Scout Group that meets every Thursday evening at Ackland Community Hall in Cold Ash. As part of the UK Scout Association the group provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for young people in the Cold Ash Area. The Scout Association has been providing services to young people in our communities of over 100 years, and today provides activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 6-25 in the UK in a co-educational setting. We therefore encourage and welcome the membership of both boys and girls. Internationally, Scouts has a membership of over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries. Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the Scouting individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves Here at 1st Cold Ash Scout Group we cater for the 6-14 age ranges split between Beaver Scouts (ages 6-8) , Cub Scouts (8 - 10.5) and Scouts (10.5-14). At the age of 14 Scouts move to Explorer Scouts until they are 18 the provision of which provided at a District level. Beyond Cold Ash we are an integral part of Taceham Hundred Scout District which brings together the Scout Groups in Thatcham, Hermitage, Woolhampton and Compton. Adult leaders and supporters exist to support the youngsters and to ensure that the activities take place within a safe environment. They receive training and must be CRB vetted to ensure their suitability. |
